As part of the OSTEN Festival, a festival for art and mutual interest, we invited visitors to join us on a walk through the Bitterfeld-Wolfen chemical park. This site, which in the last century was still clearly recognisable as a centre of industrial production, now features several open spaces that have been reclaimed by nature over the last 20 years. In these areas, an intriguing interaction takes place between human and non-human actors, on which we focused during this walk. On our way to a free lot, we invited participants to pay attention to various sensory impressions: the chirping of birds and the hum of ventilation systems, plastic scraps in the grass and the its rustling in the wind, and grey, spongy earth beneath their feet. Once we reached our destination, the visitors were prompted to moved freely around the area while recording their impressions on a provided map and learning about locally occurring plant species.
